It is a World War 2 Italian Brixia Mortar Round - 45 mm. Also known as a "Red Devil". That's that red bit, and the rounded caps go to other bases like the mod.35 (Red Devil mod.39). The rest of the ammo looks like casings. Probably artillery rounds etc. I've linked some references, the last one shows many different artillery ammo styles.
