This appears to be a lathe mandrel. The only way to be certain is to measure both sides of the thick section with a micrometer and see if it has a taper of 0.001" to 0.004" inches. I am using a 2 1/2 mandrel as a reference because the 2 1/4 mandrel this company sells is much longer which creates a difference in appearance.
