These are industrial compression springs. They are often referred to as "die springs". They are used in: stamping dies for punching and folding metals, in injection molds and in various fixtures and machines that require spring return of a component. They are made by several manufacturers. The link shows a Dieco brand which is the same company as Raymond Spring, one of the largest manufacturers. The color indicates the spring rate. Different companies use thier own color scheme but most have yellow as light, blue and red are medium, green as heavy and gold is usually extra heavy. Considering the small gap between coils I feel these are most certainly an extra heavy spring. Generally they are sized by inner diameter, free length and wire size. As for the numbers I have never seen them stamped. May possibly be a lot number.

I'd Like to Know:

I would like to know what these go to? I would also just like to say that although I have listed two, I actually have seven in total. If anyone knows what they are please feel free to send me your feedback. Thanks!

Item History: None.

Size: 3-1/2" in length and roughly 2-3/8" in diameter.

Markings: Each has there own numbers, the two I have listed have the numbers 465 and 497.

Opinions

1)

they appear to be valve springs from an engine. since you have 7 you are probably missing 1. the numbers are probably the spring pressure. they look very stout so they are probably for a performance engine

Rejected

Reason:
These springs are larger than a spring that goes in a car. Can you be more specific about what vehicle it goes to?
